Our story
While working in construction for almost 10 years, Ozan Yalniz experienced the pain points of ordering heavy construction materials, from waiting on hold to directing truckers to the correct drop-off location to collecting and reconciling hundreds of paper tickets. Although Ozan eventually left construction to pursue an MBA and other tech and consulting roles, he never forgot the challenges he faced on jobsites.
After investigating the problem further, Ozan quickly realized that material suppliers and haulers also suffer from the inefficiencies in the current process. Because of this, a solution targeting any one side of the market would not truly solve the problem - what was needed was something that brought true connectivity to the way suppliers, contractors and haulers communicate and transact.
Ozan was soon joined by Christian Carollo , a software engineering leader and CTO, who shared Ozan’s vision and had experience building a three-sided supply chain solution for the B2B-courier market. Together, Ozan and Christian bring the deep industry experience and technical excellence required to solve this complex problem.
From the start, Materially has valued working directly with contractors, fixed plants, aggregate suppliers, haulers and fleets to incorporate their feedback and ensure that our product meets their greatest needs. Additionally, as Materially has grown, we have continued to prioritize combining industry experience with technical excellence, to ensure that our product is not just built for the industry, but by the industry.
